Tiffany Coco MSW '11 is using her degree from 91鶹ӳý to support patients undergoing organ transplants.

A licensed social worker with the Mayo Clinic Transplant Center in Arizona, Coco was the subject of a recent Mayo Clinic feature entitled “Social Worker Helps Patients on Transplant ‘Journey of Cautious Hope.’”

Coco leads a team of 20 social work professionals and “uses her clinical expertise to assess patients' emotional, psychological and social needs to help them navigate their transplant experience,” the article notes.

It was her own personal connection to organ donation that ultimately determined her career trajectory. When Coco was just 15, her mother died unexpectedly, and her family made the choice to donate her organs.

"Transplant is a second chance at life―for the patient, their family and their community," Coco said in the piece. "No matter how many transplants I witness, it amazes me each time because I know there is another family that gets a chance that mine didn't."
